- “Eternity is made up of todays. Glorify the hour.” Christopher Ruess. Born in Ecuador to American parents, I moved to the US when I was 2, attended Trinity-Pawling School and Dartmouth College. I was Seal in our fraternity – Animal House. My fraternity brother wrote the screenplay. Stopped working when I was 39 and traveled extensively - India 14 times, trekking in the Himalayas 9 times, also Japan and Thailand. I wore out my hip in 1997 climbing Mt. San Gorgonio in California and suffered a 10 year layoff from hiking – except for two Himalayan treks with a cane. I moved to LA in 2008, got a role in a large IBM commercial, went back to the Himalayas for a month, and now hike obsessively in the LA Mountains so as to not get pre-traumatic stress syndrome! Oh yeah, have had ANOTHER hip replacement. The unfolding adventure is on Twitter as Carlosjii.
